What is the endocrine system?

Every cell in the body is under the control of endocrine system, which comprises of a number of hormone secreting glands. Most of these hormones are secreted in to the circulating blood. The glands include the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, ovaries, testes, pancreas, adrenals and fat. Hormones control the normal metabolism, growth, development and reproduction of cells. They also regulate the body’s response to the surroundings and the delivery of energy and nutrients for normal body function.
